Signs You Need to Schedule an Appointment with Monterey Park, CA Roofers
As the first line of defense against the elements, your roof shields everything inside your Los Angeles County home – as well as you and your family – from severe temperatures, high winds, inclement weather, and the powerful UV rays of the sun.
In short, the roof is one of the most important components of your house, and in order to ensure that it does the all-important job it’s supposed to do, it needs to be in tip-top condition; however, given the extreme climate it’s exposed to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, a roof is bound to sustain wear and tear and experience damage at one point or another. Constant exposure to extreme conditions, subpar materials, poor-quality installation, and age are just some of the factors that can lead to roof damage.
Whether the result of the weather, natural degradation, faulty installation, or age, as soon as you detect an issue with your Los Angeles County roof, you need to call in Monterey Park, CA roofers. But how do you know when your roof needs to be repaired or replaced? Here’s a look at some key signs that indicate it’s time to start looking for “roofers near me”.
Missing Shingles, Tiles, or Sections
Are any of the shingles, tiles, or metal roofing sections missing from your roof? If so, you need to get in touch with a Los Angeles County roofer near you for your commercial roofing needs ASAP. Nearby tree limbs or high winds can loosen and remove a single shingle or complete sections of a roof.
When parts of the upper-most layer of a roof are missing, the underlayment will be exposed to moisture damage, and once water damages the underlayment, it can make its way into the attic and even leak through the ceiling of your California home. Water damage can pose serious problems; not only can it increase the risk of mold growth, but it can also damage the structural integrity of your entire house.
At the first sign of missing shingles, tiles, or sections, calling in Monterey Park, CA roofers is an absolute must. Professional roofers will make the repairs that are necessary, thus reducing the risk of more extensive damage and costlier repairs.
Have you noticed slow drips or gushing leaks pouring through your ceiling? If so, that’s a clear sign that you have an active leak and it needs to be fixed right away, but moisture damage isn’t always so obvious. Look up at your ceiling and the upper reaches of your walls. Do you see discolored spots those spots are a sign of a slow drip.
As damp building materials dry out, dirt in the environment can accumulate on the wet spots, leaving behind brownish or yellowish stains. Whether you’re positive your roof is leaking or you suspect it is, schedule an appointment with a Los Angeles County roofer near you. Experienced Monterey Park, CA roofers will conduct a thorough investigation to identify the source of the leak and will make the repairs that are necessary to correct the problem.
If your roof is composed of asphalt shingles, the exterior of the shingles are coated with granules. Those granules protect the shingles, the rest of your roof – and your entire California home from extreme conditions. Some degree of granule shedding is expected as a part of normal deterioration; however, excessive granule loss is a sign of trouble.
If you notice a large accumulation of granules in the gutters or completely “bald” patches on your shingles, for example, that’s an indication that your roof is nearing the end of its life. A reputable roofer near you will conduct a thorough inspection of the structure to determine the extent of the problem, and whether replacing a few problematic shingles or a complete roof replacement is necessary.
When the sun’s out, pay a visit to your attic or crawl space and inspect the roof. Do you see light shining through anywhere? If so, you have a problem, and it needs to be addressed. Constant exposure to harsh UV rays, wind, rain, and extreme temperatures have likely weakened and thinned out part or all of the roof, and when that happens, it’s only a matter of time before more serious issues arise.
water intrusion, for example if you detect light shining through your roof, call a roofer near you right away. A licensed and experienced Monterey Park, CA roofer will assess all components of the structure to pinpoint the root cause of the problem and will make the repairs that are necessary to correct it.
While standing on the edge of your property, take a look at the roofline of your California house. Does it look like any part of the roof is sagging if so, don’t delay; get in touch with a Los Angeles County roofer near you. Sagging can occur for a number of reasons, such as water damage, subpar materials, poor installation, ground settling, structural issues, or simply age.
Whatever the cause, if your roof is sagging, having a professional Monterey Park roofer assess the structure ASAP is imperative. Ignoring the problem will only make matters worse, as there’s a serious risk that the entire roof could collapse.

Monterey Park is a city located in the western San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County, California in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, United States, approximately seven miles (11 km) from the Downtown Los Angeles civic center. The city’s motto is ‘Pride in the past, Faith in the future’. Monterey Park is part of a cluster of cities with a growing Asian American population. According to the 2010 Census, the city had a total population of 60,269. Monterey Park has consistently ranked as one of the country’s best places to live due to its good schools, growing economy, and central location. Monterey Park is bordered by Alhambra, Los Angeles, Montebello, and Rosemead.
For at least seven thousand years the land was populated by the Tongva (Gabrielino) Native Americans. The Tongva lived in dome like structures with thatched exteriors, an open smoke hole for ventilation and light at the top. Both sexes wore long hair styles and tattooed their bodies. During warm weather the men wore few clothes but the women would wear minimal skirts made of animal hides. During the cold weather they would wear animal skin capes and occasionally wore sandals made from hide of yucca fiber. With the arrival of the Spaniards, Old World diseases killed off many of the Tongva, and by 1870 very few Native-Americans had survived. In the early 19th century the area was part of the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel mission system and later, the Rancho San Antonio.
Following the Civil War, an Italian, Alessandro Repetto, purchased 5,000 acres (20 km2) of the rancho and built his ranch house on the hill overlooking his land, about a half-mile north of where Garfield Avenue crosses the Pomona Freeway, not far from where the Edison substation is now located on Garfield Avenue.
It was at this time, Richard Garvey, a mail rider for the U.S. Army whose route took him through Monterey Pass, a trail that is now Garvey Avenue, settled down in the King’s Hills. Garvey began developing the land by bringing in spring water from near the Hondo River and by constructing a 54-foot-high (16 m) dam to form Garvey Lake located where Garvey Ranch Park is now. To pay for his development and past debts, Garvey began selling portions of his property. In 1906, the first subdivision in the area, Ramona Acres (named after the developer’s daughter, who would also later inspire the title of the novel Ramona), was developed north of Garvey and east of Garfield Avenues.
